Strobing

Hi guys

So I have just heard about this summers newest makeup trend, strobing! Forget everything you know about contouring and listen up.
So strobing is a fancy term for highlighting, but it's extra highlighting so it make your skin look fresh dewy and summer ready! Although it's a lot easier than contouring be careful, dewy and fresh skin can very easily turn into sweaty looking skin so, there are rules that need to be followed in order to perfect this technique. If you want to find out more carry on reading!

P.S if you want to try out strobing please post a selfie to Instagram and use the hashtag #alottabeauty and please follow me @alottabeautyx so you can keep up to date with my blog.

Rule 1-
Make sure you are using the correct shade of highlighter for your skin tone.
If you are fair skinned it's best to go for a champagne shade, try out the elf studio baked highlighter in moonlight pearls (£3.95)
For a light to medium skin opt for a pink champagne shade such as the maxfactor colour corrector stick in pink sports light (£8.99)
If you are olive skinned a golden tone is best, sun beam by benefit is a good one to try (£19.50)
For a darker skin terracotta shades will work best like the nars na pali coast (£30)

Rule 2-
Don't over do it.
Remember, a lot of shine on your face can make it look oily and sweaty! No one wants that! So keep it small and subtle so you can get the full effect of this perfect summer glow.

Rule 3-
Only strobe where the light hits your face.
Don't cover your face in highlighter otherwise it will look greasy, just the needed areas such as: your temples, cheekbones, top of your cupids bow and brow bones. If you have really oily skin or are breaking out try to avoid areas such as your forehead and other spotty areas.

Rule 4-
Use matte powders.
Because the highlight is shimmery use only matte bronzes and blusters with this look.

Rule 5-
Don't try to shape your face with it.
It won't work, trying to shape and freshen up your skin are two very different things! Please don't confuse them and I personally would say don't mix the two. Stick to minimal bronzer in strobing and minimal highlighter in contouring.

Thanks for reading! See you next week! Xo
